Password Reset - username must be visible

Can you add a "Please add username" pop-up after adding an email on the "Forgot password" page?
Or, can you make the "username" visible so it can be seen immediately?

Customers click the "Forgot Password" link on the login page and follow the instructions, but it doesn't work. They don't receive an email with information on how to reset their password.
Problem with Username. If the customer has a username provided, he must fill it in to reset his password. But he doesn't see that he needs to fill it in because it is not displayed (only asks "do you have a username?")
